We hold our athletes to a standard — in practice, in the classroom, and in the community. The habits built here follow them for life.
For over a decade, YLHS Football has been more than a team. It’s a program built on the belief that football develops people — and that a community fully invested in its athletes makes both better.
Yorba Linda High School Football has grown into one of the most established public-school programs in Orange County — not by accident, but by design.
From its early seasons to back-to-back decades of competitive football, the program has built something that goes beyond wins and losses: a culture where athletes are held to a standard on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. That standard has produced CIF championships, league titles, and a pipeline of student-athletes who’ve gone on to compete at the college level.
Founded in 2009, Yorba Linda High School fielded its first Mustang football team that fall. Within a decade, the program had risen from a brand-new school to a CIF-SS championship contender.
The Mustangs play their home games at Nathan Shapell Memorial Stadium — named in honor of the philanthropist and developer whose family’s support has meant so much to Yorba Linda. On Friday nights, the stadium becomes the center of the community.See the Trophy Case
Every program has a playbook. Ours starts before anyone puts on a helmet.
We hold our athletes to a standard — in practice, in the classroom, and in the community. The habits built here follow them for life.
We coach the whole person. Football is the vehicle; the destination is a young man who knows how to compete, lead, and show up when it matters.
Mustang Football doesn’t exist without Yorba Linda behind it. Our booster organization, our sponsors, and our families don’t just support the program — they’re part of it.
Whether you’re a prospective player, a family new to the program, or a returning supporter — the door is open.
